Terms of service

Terms of Service

These terms apply when you use Echoes, request the free Echoes Legacy Interview Kit, or purchase an Echoes biography. By placing an order, you agree to these terms.

The Family Biography

The Echoes Family Biography costs $98, paid in full. Free standard shipping to U.S. addresses is included. Any applicable tax is shown at checkout.

The Family Biography is prepared from recordings of one primary storyteller, up to five total hours, with up to 10 digital photographs.

The finished work may include approximately 8 to 12 chapters, up to approximately 25,000 words, and up to approximately 100 interior pages. These are ceilings, not guaranteed lengths. The biography reflects the stories and materials supplied and is not promised as a complete or definitive account of a life.

What Echoes provides

Echoes provides an assisted editorial process with human quality review, one digital proof, one factual-corrections round, one printed 6×9 book with a color cover and black-and-white interior, a final PDF, and customer-owned manuscript files.

Before you record

Recordings submitted for the paid Family Biography must be made after purchase and after the required storyteller consent and customer authorization are completed.

Your responsibilities

You are responsible for providing usable recordings and photographs, accurate family details, and any permissions needed for the materials you submit. The primary storyteller must understand and consent to participating. Do not submit material you do not have the right to use.

Echoes does not independently fact-check the life story or conduct historical or genealogical research as part of the $98 Family Biography.

Proof and corrections

The included corrections round covers names, dates, places, relationships, obvious transcription errors, typographical errors, and requested removals. New stories, new photographs, broad stylistic rewriting, and additional revision rounds are not included in the $98 offer.

Printing and shipping

One printed book and free standard shipping to a U.S. address are included. Echoes does not offer international shipping at launch.

Printing occurs after the digital proof and included corrections process are complete. Project timing depends on the condition and completeness of the materials supplied, customer response time, and printing and carrier performance. Echoes does not promise a specific completion or delivery date unless confirmed in writing.

Cancellations and refunds

A full refund is available if you cancel before transcription or editorial work begins. After work begins and before the digital proof is delivered, refund requests are reviewed case by case based on work already completed. After the digital proof is delivered, the purchase is nonrefundable.

Ownership and public use

You retain ownership of the materials you submit, subject to any rights held by others. You own the final manuscript files and PDF delivered for your project.

Echoes will not publish, sell, or use your family story publicly without separate written permission.

Timing and availability

Echoes may pause a project when recordings are unusable, permissions are unclear, or the storyteller cannot meaningfully consent.

Echoes is not a permanent archive or lifetime hosting service. Customers should keep their original recordings, photographs, and final files.
